There is a sizable double-facing brick seat above St Baldred’s Cradle, a tidal gully from the cliffs that gives good sea and woodland viewing.
As you walk along the shore that you get magnificent views of the bay and crags before dropping down on the beach again.
Keep on walking and turn left through the woodlands, then turn right and return to the car park.

  1. Walking out from the woodland, I the estuary Provides you Rock Pipit, Goosander, Cormorant, Redshank, Curlew, Green Sandpiper and Greenshank. As you walk along the coast, keep a look out from the trees to your left for Siskin, Wren and other woodland species. The rich SeaBuctkthom bushe are magnets for migrants such as species like Wheatear and Barred Warbler. The doubleback chairs offers you an excellent place to sit down seawatch for shearwaters, Great, Arctic and Longtailed Skuas, Little Auk and sea duck.
  2. Standing above the remains of the pill box, Bass Rock is directly facing you and is well worth a scan to the likes of Gannet, Oystercatcher, Peregrine and Common Scoter. Check for Long-tailed Tit, Treecreeper and Goldcrest walking back to the car park.
  3. The field onyourightcan Toccasionaly hold some Whooper Swans, Pink-footed andGreylag Geese. Look for Merlin and Buzzard, Crossbill from the pines; and Great Spotted and Green Woodpeckers from the woodlands are a chance.

PARKING: There is a pay and display car park off the A198 North Berwick road costing £2 with space for 40 cars at the end of Lime Tree Walk. From the car park walk towards the coast.
Take the middle of three paths and carry on, with fields to your right and dense woodland to your left. After walking through an old tank trap you come out on the shoreline with views across to Dunbar
